Hi Everyone, it’s Matt here to check in and say hello!
Recently, a contact of mine sent me a list of random, interesting little tasks to keep you occupied at weekends, days off, or any time when you’re feeling a bit lost or bored. I’ve adapted them to include my own suggestions, and to make it a little lighter and more bloggy, I’ll put a bit of spiel with some of them.

Some of these tasks will take a couple of minutes. Some maybe an hour or two. It’s just a few things to try really.
- Read a few pages of a book. If you’re not much of a reader, just pick a book from the shelf that looks interesting and try a few pages.
- Go for a walk around the block.
- Plan a lunch or meal that includes all of the food categories.
- Pick a random new sitcom or film on whichever streaming site you prefer and try a few minutes/episodes.
- Make a silly face in the mirror.

- Bake! A small cake, maybe some cookies, whatever you fancy. There are loads of easy recipes online and many of them only require a few ingredients. And many are sugar free as well.
- Look out of the window. Focus on an object that you don’t normally notice.
- Sing.
- Dance in your living room.
- Listen to your favourite album.

- Say hello, good morning or any pleasant greeting to people you pass in the street.
- Try a new hobby, activity or skill.
- If you’re feeling anxious, go on YouTube and look up Yoga breathing exercises.
- Eat some fruit.

- Video call your parents/siblings.
- Do an online quiz.
- Phone up instead of booking/ordering something online. Using the phone is a struggle for many of us, and I may write a separate piece with some advice on that topic.

- Get up early on your day off or at the weekend, even if you have nowhere to be.
- Achieve something, no matter how small, before 10am.
- Drink a glass of water slowly.
- Rearrange your cupboards.
- Learn a phrase in a new language.
- Laugh. It’s possible to randomly laugh, and it will release feel-good hormones (laughter therapy is also a thing, look it up online, it’s super cool).
- Make a list of your goals in life, or simply for the rest of the year.
