5 Ways To Keep Our Mind Healthy During Lockdown

Hi Everyone, We can all agree that another lockdown is not ideal. We are all feeling worried about keeping ourselves occupied during another period of time at home.  What I will start off by saying, is that in some cultures across the world, a crisis is seen as an “opportunity”. And so, people are encouraged to see the positives they can take from a situation. To apply this to the previous lockdowns, how many of us had come across Zoom before 2020? Yet now we’re using it for everything – virtual family gatherings, birthday parties, business meetings, interviews and virtual meetings with friends.  Photo by Polina Kovaleva from Pexels Hands up who blew out their birthday candles via zoom in the last few months? *raises hand* Let’s look at 5 ways to keep our mind healthy: Numero Uno: Fresh Air. Fresh air, sunshine (albeit chilly sunshine) and a bit of exercise will be vital over the next few weeks. The streets will be much quieter, and so if you’re a bit nervous or sel...

Welcome to 2021: Happy New Year!

Hello! And Happy New Year from Stridi. This will just be a short piece to check in and provide some guidance for the year ahead. As much as the whole concept of “resolutions” are a bit cliché, new years do provide an opportunity for new ideas and progress. We’ve left behind a year that we can all agree was not ideal. But that year is over now. So, let’s look ahead to what we can achieve in 2021!   Photo by Julia Larson from Pexels Get That Grade: Whether you’re in your final year at uni or halfway through your first, your grades are important. In first year, you can get a taste for the work load that uni can offer and test yourself to see what grades you can target in the coming years. Top tip: there is always room for improvement, and your tutors are there to guide you. If you have made it to uni in the first place then you are clearly a bright, talented person. The sky is the limit. In third year, I cannot emphasise enough how important your tutors and lecturers are....

I Met My Best Friend At Uni, And It Changed Everything For Me

This article is by Daniel and is called :  I Met My Best Friend at Uni, And It Changed Everything For Me When I decided to write a piece about my experiences at university, I thought I’d start at the beginning, with my first day. Weirdly for me, I don’t remember it that clearly. I have an astonishing memory. And that’s pretty much the only positive thing I’ll say about myself – ever. But, yes, my memory is very good and is my greatest asset. I can remember dates, statistics, anything factual with absolute ease. I can tell you without having to even consider using Wikipedia that Liverpool drew 2-2 with Young Boys in the Europa League group stages on 28 th November 2012, with Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Cole scoring in the 33 rd and 72 nd minutes respectively.  I have no issue in recalling Warrington Wolves’ useless 14-34 loss at home to St Helens on 22 nd September 2018, the same day as Liverpool defeated Southampton 3-0 at Anfield with Joel Matip’s fourt...

How I Overcame My Social Anxiety

It is important when reading my story to know that this is my own personal experience and opinion and what you may be going through could be different and have a different path to overcome the issues that you have. What I can say for sure is that I have overcome my Social Anxiety. I want to start by telling you my understanding of Anxiety from what I have experienced and from an explanation given to me by a talking therapies coach in West London. I will then go on to tell you my story up until the day of writing this post. I will finish with giving my advice on what steps you could do to overcome your anxiety. “What is Social Anxiety?” is a difficult question to answer because we’re still not fully in agreement about what causes it and how to cure it. My Talking Therapies coach who saw me towards the end of my struggle told me that essentially every human has a an ‘Anxiety Gauge’ with a limit. When our Anxiety reaches a certain level, we go into ‘Panic Mode’ and ‘Fight or F...
